Sunseekers 114 for 9 (Williamson 38, Wenn 29 not out).
Etwall Veterans 111-5 (Clark 27, Harrison 25, Crawford 2-7).
A predictably enjoyable first evening match of the year, made more so by Sunseekers edging home by three runs after looking set to lose the 16 8-ball overs game.
Colston got the first thing right by winning the toss while Mick wrestled his way into his neoprene.
Nigel Coulthurst unfortunately added a duck to his excellent 38 from the previous Sunday but the returning and apparently utterly unchanged Sgt Matt Williamson and Jim Taylor added a swift 37 before the Little Fat Captain finally got some runs to end his run of pessimism so far this season.
Paul Downes' on-drive for four along the ground between two fielders was the shot of the match and Colston and Brian added a boundary each in brief cameos but there was a feeling 114 might be too few on a swift outfield.
However, Colston's first bowl of the season was a good one (who writes this stuff?) and a return of two for seven off four overs, together with a decent and unlucky spell by Ross Coxon at the other end put Etwall behind the asking rate.
Big hitting by Harrison and a solid anchor role by opener Clark almost put Etwall back in it as old BB proved a little expensive on this occasion but enter Williamson to start with a customary wide and recover to bowl two overs right on the spot for six at the death to squeeze the win.
Steve "at least you had a knock" Nicholls travelled from Birmingham for a customary first appearance first-ball duck but patrolled the long boundary immaculately, culminating in a run out in the penultimate over. Top effort, Steve, but a good one all-round from the lads.
