Bully smashing a six

A miserable morning gave way to an OK afternoon and if there's one thing about playing at Darley, NEMCO's chosen venue, it's that there's a better chance of playing in rubbish weather.
In fact, the wicket played better than we have come to expect from Darley as Sunseekers, Wenn having lost the toss, apprehensively approached the almost unique situation of batting first. Paul Downs, picking up a bat for the first time this season, was understandably rusty and Eric The New Boy got an unplayable snorter but along with their two ducks were 28s from John Carpo and the LFC*, who both got out when going well. Useful runs followed from Kevin and Chris, the latter in pleasing form on his way to 32, before Mogie biffed the game hopefully beyond NEMCO with an excellent 36 not out at the end.
161 was good stuff in the conditions and Chris's opening spell, in which danger-man Steve Whitehurst was bowled after Kevin had unfortunately dropped him before he scored, was the key to victory.
A rubbish spell by your match reporter almost offered NEMCO a way back but a second superb spell by Mogie sorted things out and NEMCO were well short at the end on 118.
Super BB turned up after the Rams match and was quickly rushed home for his kit by Carpo to make up the 11 and Evans Senior, bizarrely, was given Fielder of the Match by the opposition for an admittedly good, if failed, effort at a diving catch. Evans Junior would have been a better bet, and he just turned up to watch for 20 minutes.
So, two out of two and good spirits all round. Bring on those Nomads!
