Boosemoor

It has become a bit of a tradition over the last few years to honour the Boosemoor guys by letting them win, this year was no exception.

Nige Duffil and Chris Potter got Boosemoor off to a very solid start, Duffill eventually reaching his 50. He was a little lucky as Woodward made a bid for 'fluffed catch of the season' by dropping a thick inside edge off Colston's bowling. Next ball, Colston was even more fired up and the outside edge was duly held. Sadly not off Duffill, although he departed shortly after.
The second bid for the 'fluffed catch of the season' award came when Paul Downes showed his circus skills, juggling a ball and then throwing it to Col. Needless to say, it did not stick.
For a change, we found ourselves in a position where we would need to work really hard for the defeat, but 'the boys done well'.
First to go was Paul D who sort of made a round the corner sweep and managed to pass it neatly to Sibson behind the stumps. I forget what happened for the next wicket but Woodward then pretended to miss a straight ball to throw away his wicket.

Will (above) lost the plot and scored a few runs before remembering the philosophy of the game and hit it in the air to young Potter to give him some catctching practice.

Jim D took over and after a couple of balls, remembered the plot and managed to use the shoulder of the bat to get the ball into the hands of the slips (right). He did his best to look really disappointed to make it fairly realistic.
Throughout all of this, Howard (below) staunchly remained at the crease, steering us inexorably towards the Boosemoor total - no one had actually remembered to tell him that was not the idea.

Special thanks must go to Zola and BB for standing there in the full glare of the Sun(seekers) and umpiring for the whole match. And special mention to Micky Wenn who could not be there in person but left us a sign (or was it an instruction about how we should bat) ...

... cheers skip, nice log. Anyway, as always, we had a great day, very enjoyable - long may this fixture continue!
