Nomads - 205 (Ashford 0-15, Hiscock 3-32); Sunseekers 187 - 7 (Ashton - 74, Wenn 49, Coxon 16). Lost by 18 runs.
Nomads declared their intentions with 5 off the first 2 balls, with the opener going on to make exactly 100 before the guile of Bennett, coupled with the bucket-like hands of Ashford led to his demise. After a couple of overs, Moggie and Fred settled into their usual rythym, much to the pleasure of Marion and Mary! Man of the Match Freddy came close to returning even better figures but Mick and Howard were too busy being polite to each other (after you, no, I insist - after you, oh shit missed it) to catch the main chance of his bowling. In the context of the game, Fred bowled tidily indeed. Evans and Hiscock took over, the latter having had -in his own words - "a decent first over then it all went funny", although he did manage a few of the tail enders including one blisteringly fast delivery which completely destroyed a bale. DBE ended the game with the customary dodgy knees and, in DH's words (he did a lot of bloody talking!) "did not do him Justice". Bennett was wheeled out for his first spell of the season and became very agitated with Robin at times - there is life and passion in the old dog yet, but don't tell Mrs B.

Howard and Mick got the innings off to a steady start, Howard even getting Mick to take an all run 3 (I guess he did not have a choice as Howard had already arrived at the same end as Mick after having run 3 in the time Mick had run 2). As a young lass rode past on a horse, as per usual, Fred was the first to make the spot "It's a Welsh cob that you know, you can tell because they are really chunky beasts" - he must be getting a bit past it now, getting excited about the horse! Anyway, Mick made his third scoring shot in the 15th over and just about reached double figures when Howard reached his 50. Despite the solid start, we were always a little behind the rate, but were unable to make the necessary acceleration. Once Howard was out, caught in the deep, Robin chipped in with a flurry of runs, keeping Mick on the move all the time. Ross made some good strikes but did not stay long enough, great to watch though and revived flagging hopes for a while. Mogie and Fred never really had enough time to settle and start firing and so on the day that Wenny hit the ball so hard that he broke his bat*, we lost by 20 or so runs.
I won't include the shenanigins after the match involving Robin's deodorant and 2 senior members of the club, one naked and bending over ...
* Are you sure he didn't just lean on it a lot, Kev?
